2. The job of the Executive Branch is to enforce our country's laws.
3. The head of the Executive Branch is the President.
4. The President currently is Barack Obama.
5. Barack Obama was elected President in November of 2008 and then again in November of 2012. Barack Obama is a Democrat.
6. The term for a President is four years.
7. The President can serve for two terms.
8. The Electoral College elects the President and Vice President.
9. We know how many electoral votes a state gets by adding the total number of representatives in the House of Representatives and Senators that state has.
10. Currently, California gets 55 electoral votes.
11. The smallest number of electoral votes a state can get is three.
12. The Electoral College is supposed to vote for who the people voted for president in each state, but they do not have to.
13. The House of Representatives elects the President if no one gets a majority of the electoral votes.
14. The three requirements to be President are that you must be a natural born citizen of the United States, you must be at least 35 years old, and you must have been a resident of the United States for at least 14 years.
15. In case the President dies, the next three people in line to take over as President are the Vice President, the Speaker of the House, and the President pro tempore.
16. Besides the President, three other people/groups/organizations that are part of the Executive Branch are the Vice President, cabinet departments, and independent agencies.
17. In order to help the President run the country, he appoints people to be heads of different departments. These heads of each department make up the President's Cabinet.
18. Currently there are 15 Cabinet members.
19. Each head of each department is given the title of "Secretary."
20. If I had to narrow the different Cabinet positions down to only three, I would choose the Departments of Defense, Energy and Education because I think that these are the most important ones.
